Millions of people Claiming PPI were mis-sold fraudulent policies are now filing claims.
Banks profited heavily from selling these protective payment insurance policies under the illusory guise that they would cover loans, mortgages, and credit cards if the policy owner falls ill, gets disabled or becomes unemployed.
Send a letter to the policy’s provider listing specific reasons why you feel they mis-sold the PPI insurance to you.
They must acknowledge receipt of this letter within five days. Send them another letter Claiming PPI and demand that the matter be resolved within two weeks or you will go to the Federal Ombudsman Service (FOS) to file a complaint. Providers technically have eight weeks to deal with your complaint.
Contact the FOS to file a challenge or complaint against the lender. There are template forms online that you can download to fill out and send to the FOS. The FOS also offers the complaint form on their website. It will take some time for the FOS to investigate your claim to make a decision. You might receive a cheque back for all of the premiums paid for the PPI plus added interest if they decide in your favour. Claiming PPI has become a more streamlined process due in part to recent high court rulings making it easier to win mis-selling claims.
